New David Bowie Musical Walking Tour launching in Brixton!
I am delighted to announce that on 8 January 2017 , I will be launching London’s first official David Bowie Musical Walking Tour on what would have been the singer’s 70th birthday and the one-year anniversary of his brilliant final album ‘Black Star’!
Bowie Tour London will run regularly on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays will be a 2-hour guided experience through David Bowie’s early life in Brixton, encompassing many rarely celebrated landmarks in one of the most vibrant, independent and striving areas of London.
Paying guests will be treated to various sites that relate to the legendary singer’s life and death with funny, moving and often surprising anecdotes enthusiastically told throughout the tour.
Classic David Bowie songs will also be performed en route, including: Starman, Heroes, Life on Mars and many others.
David Bowie was (and is!) a huge inspiration to songwriters, performers, artists, fashion designers and film makers all over the world, including myself.
I thought the best way to honour him would be to take a musical journey through his early life and also celebrate Brixton – a place that Bowie supported over the years.
I’m a lifelong David Bowie fan and there have been times when the information I’ve researched for this tour has surprised, delighted and warmed my heart, in a way that no other musician’s life ever could.
I hope people will come along and enjoy the experience together by singing some of his wonderful songs or just by soaking up the rich culture of Brixton, whether they are massive fans or just want to learn more about the great man and his hometown. I’d also like to take this opportunity to thank Lambeth Council for their continued support of this project.
